Stewart Spence started his career in hospitality more than 50 years ago with a job as a trainee chef at the Station Hotel. He has been a respected member of the industry, responsible for the creation of one of the most loved and successful hotels in Scotland: The Marcliffe Hotel & Spa in Aberdeen which will close later this year following his retirement.
Last week, he received the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award at the Aberdeen City and Shire Tourism Awards for his contribution to the tourism industry. The award is richly deserved.
We have been working with Mr Spence and The Marcliffe Hotel & Spa for many years now and are so proud to have the property as a member. The Marcliffe Hotel will be missed when it closes, it has brought so much joy to so many all these years, we thank Mr Spence, his family and team for giving us all the opportunity to enjoy this outstanding property and experience such high quality of service.
The award reflects a lifetime devoted to hospitality and is a small token of appreciation considering all that Mr Spence brought to the area and to the industry.
Well done Stewart Spence, we could not be happier for you.
